Words for Wednesday
Clouds all around, the sky barely visible, dark and gloomy, the sea black under the waves, but with the hungry little gulls in mind, fear faded away.
Scattered words in her memory, feeding her fear:
"The wind will carry you away."
"It will throw you into the waves."
No one from their society followed her.
Light and agile, the cold wind took her from one side of the sea to the other, above the height of the waves, towards the lighthouse and the fishing boats.
She was comfortable, she didn't fear much, she raised her right wing a little and reached the height she wanted. Everyone told her not to go in such a storm, but she listened to her instinct, the last of her little gulls was so weak!
There was a need to eat, maybe if she didn't have something to give it another day she would lose it, the others would survive.
The lights from the fishing boats looked like distant cities in her eyes. Now she could see the fishermen in the distance lifting their nets full of fish.
The helpers in their yellow raincoats and matching caps threw the small ones into the sea. With skillful movements she grabs two fish with her beak and takes her way back!

Pretty photos, but I'm sad to say I cannot read your story. I do not read modern Greek, and those curly, latin letters I just can't read due to bad eyesight. So sorry.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήI'm sorry Charlotte I'll change the font right away!!
ΔιαγραφήI'm thinking of adding the alphabet and maybe a few Greek words later!!
THANK YOU: A very touching story. A mother's love is the same whatever species.
ΔιαγραφήI read Greek letters OK; as I learned in my youth, but the Greek I read was he Koine of the New Testament, not much good for modern Greek at all. Just for fun I tried reading through your Greek version. I can read and understand all the numbers, and the words "and" "right wing" "small into sea" "net" and "lamp". And "in English" That's all. The language has evolved in the 2000 years since the ne Testament was written :D I would have to learn all over if I got the idea to travel to Greece - which I would very much like to, as I remember a beautiful, varying country with mostly polite and nice people from passing through oh so many years ago.
Charlotte, learning a language for us is the best thing, even though it is tiring. I started learning English three years ago, of course I will never catch up with my children who started learning from a young age! ! Greece has changed a lot and Athens tends to become a multicultural capital. Of course, I live in the countryside where things are still good and the people are kind and welcoming.
ΔιαγραφήI'm glad you liked my story Charlotte.
Have a great weekend🧡!!
Three years! I am impressed! And no, you won't ever catch up, but experience teaches you to say what you want to with other words or making your sentence another way. THis only comes with age and experience (I can say this, as I am older than you I think).
ΔιαγραφήCountryside is what I like ;)
Beautiful. Mother love is a powerful thing.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήYes E.C.,
Διαγραφήfrom the best possible!
Gulls (and other seabirds) have learned to follow fishing vessels knowing that an easy meal is often possible. I have witnessed this several times. Have a great day and kudos for joining Words for Wednesday.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήYes, beautiful sight!
ΔιαγραφήThank you David,

Such a beautiful piece, keeping our faith, floating in the sea of the sky. Love this!

Wonderfully written and lovely photos too :-D
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you Ananka!
ΔιαγραφήIt's like the story about the mother lifting a car to save her child. Animals or human, motherly love is the same. Good use of the prompts.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήHave a lovely day
Thank you Lissa🧡
