When Creativity Becomes a Little Sanctuary...
I truly believe that creating handmade cards has a special kind of magic. It allows me to leave the worries of everyday life behind, even if only for a little while, and find a sense of peace.
Whenever I feel stressed or emotionally overwhelmed, I turn to my craft supplies and simply create. It is my own way of relaxing, clearing my mind, and filling my heart with positive energy.
This time, I decided to combine two of my greatest passions: card making and baking!
I began with a piece of recycled absorbent cardboard and prepared a unique blend using my favorite coffees—espresso, traditional Greek coffee, and instant coffee. I soaked the cardboard in the mixture, giving it a beautifully warm, naturally aged appearance.
Next, I brushed it with a fragrant blend of water, cinnamon, and cloves before leaving it to dry under the warm summer sun.
As soon as it had dried, it instantly reminded me of summer. I opened my boxes filled with lace, beautiful papers, recycled treasures, and all the little embellishments I love collecting for my handmade creations. Piece by piece, layer by layer, every detail found its perfect place, transforming a simple piece of recycled cardboard into a vintage handmade card filled with warmth, memories, delicate aromas, and the spirit of summer.
For me, creativity is much more than a hobby.
It is a gentle reminder that even the simplest materials can be transformed into something beautiful—and, in the process, so can our mood, our thoughts, and our hearts.
Όταν η δημιουργία γίνεται μικρό καταφύγιο...
Νοιώθω πως η δημιουργία χειροποίητων καρτών έχει μια μοναδική δύναμη:
με βοηθά να αφήνω για λίγο πίσω τις έγνοιες της καθημερινότητας και να βρίσκω ηρεμία.
Κάθε φορά που αισθάνομαι ένταση ή στενοχώρια, στρέφομαι στα υλικά μου και δημιουργώ. Είναι ο δικός μου τρόπος να χαλαρώνω και να γεμίζω ξανά με θετική ενέργεια.
Αυτή τη φορά αποφάσισα να ενώσω δύο από τις μεγαλύτερες αγάπες μου: τη δημιουργία καρτών και τη ζαχαροπλαστική!
Ξεκίνησα με ένα κομμάτι ανακυκλωμένο απορροφητικό χαρτόνι. Ετοίμασα ένα ιδιαίτερο μείγμα από τους αγαπημένους μου καφέδες – εσπρέσο, ελληνικό και στιγμιαίο – και βούτηξα μέσα το χαρτόνι, χαρίζοντάς του μια ζεστή, φυσική απόχρωση.
Στη συνέχεια το πέρασα με ένα αρωματικό μείγμα νερού, κανέλας και γαρύφαλλου και το άφησα να στεγνώσει κάτω από τον καλοκαιρινό ήλιο.
Όταν στέγνωσε, το κοίταξα και αμέσως μου έφερε στο μυαλό το καλοκαίρι. Άνοιξα λοιπόν τα κουτιά μου με τις δαντέλες, τα όμορφα χαρτιά, τα ανακυκλώσιμα υλικά και τους μικρούς θησαυρούς που φυλάω για τις κατασκευές μου και άρχισα να δημιουργώ. Κάθε στρώση, κάθε λεπτομέρεια και κάθε υλικό βρήκε τη θέση του επάνω στην κάρτα, μετατρέποντας ένα απλό κομμάτι χαρτόνι σε ένα μικρό χειροποίητο έργο γεμάτο αρώματα, αναμνήσεις και καλοκαιρινή διάθεση.
Γιατί τελικά, η δημιουργία δεν είναι μόνο ένα χόμπι. Είναι
ένας τρόπος να μεταμορφώνουμε τα απλά υλικά σε κάτι όμορφο και, μαζί τους, να
μεταμορφώνουμε και τη διάθεσή μας.
